🇮🇱🇮🇷 WSJ: Israel built a clandestine military outpost in Iraq's western desert just before its air campaign against Iran — with U.S. knowledge — to house special forces and search-and-rescue teams supporting strikes 1,000 miles away.

In early March, an Iraqi shepherd reported unusual helicopter activity, and when Iraqi troops moved to investigate, Israeli airstrikes killed one soldier and wounded two others to keep the base hidden.

Iraq blamed the U.S. in a UN complaint, but Washington says it wasn't involved; the base was never officially discovered.

Outgoing Israeli Air Force chief Tomer Bar had hinted at the operations in a March letter referring to "special missions which could ignite the imagination."

Russia built a fourth defense ring around Moscow with 232 air defense points, up from 118, DroneBomber analysts report. The new outer ring stretches across the entire Moscow region.

The systems include S-300s, S-400s, Pantsirs, BUKs and mobile complexes positioned on key highways and heights far beyond the ring road. Radars range from modern to Soviet-era equipment pulled from storage.

Instead of defending the country, all state resources are concentrated on protecting one bunker while leaving other Russian regions defenseless, the analysts note.
