On this day, the Brazilian Army salutes the immortal memory of the heroes of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB), who, under foreign skies, made the National Pavilion flutter with righteousness, courage and sacrifice. Celebrating Victory Day is, above all, reaffirming that freedom was never free, but rather conquered, defended and, often, paid for with one's life.

When the world plunged into the darkness of total war in 1939, humanity was placed before a decisive crossroads: succumb to oppression or resist in the name of human dignity. Brazil, true to its vocation as a free nation, did not hesitate. By breaking his neutrality in 1942, he responded firmly to the aggressions suffered and, by creating the FEB, he projected onto the international scene the determination of a people who do not neglect their duty. Thus, more than 25 thousand Brazilians crossed the Atlantic not only as soldiers, but as representatives of hope, justice and national honor.

In the relentless rigor of the European winter, between hostile mountains and under the steel of the entrenched enemy, the Brazilian fighter's fiber was put to the test. There, where the cold punished the body and the war demanded everything from the spirit, our soldiers advanced. They persisted when everything seemed to deny victory. They won. Monte Castello went beyond a tactical achievement, it was definitive proof that the Brazilian soldier, when tested to the limit, responds with greatness. In Montese, in Fornovo, in each position conquered, the truth was written, with blood and courage, that echoes to this day: the snake smoked, and won.

This legacy does not just belong to the past. He lives. It lives in the discipline that shapes the character of the combatant. Lives in the hierarchy that sustains the cohesion of the troop. It lives in the silent patriotism that drives each soldier to fulfill his mission, even far from the eyes of the country. The heroes of the FEB bequeathed us more than victories, they bequeathed a standard. A commitment. A measure of honor that does not admit mediocrity, hesitation or moral weakness.

To the veterans, living guardians of this epic, our most respectful salute. To those who fell, the eternal tribute of a homeland that does not forget. Their names transcend memory; are invoked as an example, as a guide and as a requirement for all those who wear the uniform of the Brazilian Army.

May this date, in addition to being remembered, be felt. May each of us carry, deep within, the responsibility of living up to those who came before us. We were not given an easy path, we were given a grand commitment. Let us therefore be permanently ready. Ready in body, mind and spirit. Ready to defend the Homeland, whatever the cost. Because, if history one day calls us again, we will honor the bravery of the heroes who forged Brazil.
