Russians complain that the Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow in the past day was one of the most massive since the start of the year.

🇮🇷/🇺🇸 ✍️ The destroyers USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and USS Mason (DDG-87) are the same two destroyers that, three days ago, during the initial hours of America's so-called "Project Freedom" mission, came under fire from Iran's armed forces while transiting the Strait of Hormuz and entering the Persian Gulf (if the OSINT imagery is accurate). Last night, these two destroyers were attempting to flee the Persian Gulf when they encountered a missile ambush by Iran's armed forces. The destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) had also approached the Strait of Hormuz to provide additional defensive cover, and it too came under attack.
The Americans had established multiple layers of protection for these destroyers — using other destroyers, fighter jets, Apaches, and various reconnaissance and combat aircraft — to shield them from Iranian missile and drone attacks while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
👉 Approaching the Strait of Hormuz is an extremely hazardous operation, tantamount to suicide, and the US Navy cannot afford to take such a risk on a large scale, because as the number of military vessels increases, managing the battlefield will become even more complex and the likelihood of being hit will rise sharply. At least under current conditions, the rules of the Strait of Hormuz are thus — unless other significant events occur…
➡️ The fact that the Americans did not want these two destroyers to remain in the Persian Gulf, and that they accepted the risk of withdrawing them in such haste after only about three days, is further evidence that they too know the probability of a resumption of full-scale hostilities is very high, and that US destroyers in a widespread combat scenario in the Persian Gulf will certainly be hit.
In any event, the movements of US destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz over the past three days — and last night — should be understood within the context of Trump's ill-conceived "Project Freedom" mission, which forced him to take another major risk last night to wrap up this affair. On the other hand, after these two short clashes with US destroyers in southern Iranian waters, Iran's armed forces will likely adjust their offensive tactics somewhat to achieve the desired success… Offensive and effective capabilities certainly exist in Iran's order of battle, but everything depends on tactics and how they are implemented.

🇮🇷/🇺🇸‼️ Regarding last night's short conflict, two points are essential.
1️⃣ First, as the details of last night's events become clearer, we can now say with greater confidence that Iran's attacks on U.S. ships were most likely controlled rather than full‑scale, so that the strikes remain, for now, below the threshold of an all‑out war.
2️⃣ Second, the U.S. military is not honest and has a clear record of lying. Their claim that none of their destroyers were hit should be disregarded. In the early days of the war, Iran successfully struck at least one Arleigh‑Burke‑class destroyer from a distance of 650 kilometers off the Iranian coast, and satellite imagery confirmed a fire on that destroyer – yet the U.S. never admitted that disaster. Moreover, the new NASA satellite image of the Strait of Hormuz shows that last night at least one fire occurred exactly within the U.S.‑declared safe corridor south of the Strait. A field image of a vessel on fire in the same area has also been released. All of the above supports the speculation that at least one U.S. destroyer south of the Strait of Hormuz have been hit, while remaining below the threshold of an all‑out war!
Images: The first two images show the fire that broke out south of the Strait of Hormuz; the third image shows the fire aboard an Arleigh‑Burke‑class destroyer that was targeted by Iran in the early days of the war.

🇵🇾🇹🇼 Paraguay President Reaffirms Taiwan Alliance in Taipei
Paraguayan President Santiago Peña met Taiwan President Lai Ching-te in Taipei on May 8, his second visit to the island as head of state. Peña reaffirmed Paraguay's commitment to the bilateral relationship, framing it as a strategic alliance grounded in shared democratic values. The visit came one day after Beijing publicly called on Asunción to sever ties with Taipei.
Paraguay is one of only 12 countries maintaining formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan and remains its sole ally in South America — and the largest by land area. China has been actively pressuring Asunción to switch recognition, part of a broader campaign to erode Taiwan's shrinking diplomatic network. The visit signals Paraguayan resistance to that pressure, at least for now.
Paraguay's alignment with the US — Peña visited Washington in February — adds a broader strategic dimension to its continued recognition of Taiwan.
