‘U.S. forces intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with self-defense strikes as U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers transited the Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Oman, May 7.
Iranian forces launched multiple missiles, drones and small boats as USS Truxtun (DDG 103), USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115), and USS Mason (DDG 87) transited the international sea passage. No U.S. assets were struck.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) eliminated inbound threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for attacking U.S. forces including missile and drone launch sites; command and control locations; and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance nodes.’

ستاد فرماندهی مرکزی آمریکا، سنتکام، اعلام کرد نیروهای آمریکایی ۱۷ اردیبهشت همزمان با عبور ناوشکنهای مجهز به موشک هدایتشونده آمریکا از تنگه هرمز به سوی دریای عمان، حملات موشکی، پهپادی و قایقهای کوچک جمهوری اسلامی را رهگیری و به منابع این حملهها در ایران حمله کردند.
طبق اعلام سنتکام، نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی در حالی این حملهها را با چندین موشک، پهپاد و قایقهای کوچک انجام دادند که ناوهای یواساس تراکستون، یواساس رافائل پرالتا و یواساس میسون از این گذرگاه بینالمللی دریایی عبور میکردند و هیچیک از تجهیزات یا داراییهای آمریکا هدف قرار نگرفت.
سنتکام گفت نیروهای آمریکا ضمن دفع این تهدیدها، تاسیسات نظامی ایران را که مسئول حمله به نیروهای آمریکایی بودند، از جمله محلهای پرتاب موشک و پهپاد، مراکز فرماندهی و کنترل و گرههای اطلاعاتی، نظارتی و شناسایی، هدف قرار دادند.

«دو ناوشکن نیروی دریایی آمریکا که از تنگه هرمز عبور میکردند، روز پنجشنبه هدف حملهای تازه قرار گرفتند که مقامات آمریکایی آن را شدیدتر و پایدارتر از حملهای که تنها چند روز پیش به این ناوشکنها شده بود، توصیف کردند.
ناوشکنهای USS Truxtun و USS Mason در معرض حمله شدید قایقهای تندرو ایرانی قرار گرفتند که به اندازهای نزدیک شدند که ناوشکنهای آمریکایی برای دور نگه داشتن آنها آتش گشودند، مقامات آمریکایی به شرط ناشناس ماندن به CBS News گفتند زیرا اجازه صحبت علنی نداشتند.
در طول چند ساعت، ناوشکنها و هواپیماهای پشتیبان آمریکایی دفاعی چندلایه انجام دادند و توپهای پنج اینچی و سامانههای دفاع نزدیک CIWS خود را به کار گرفتند. تیمهای توپخانه کوچککالیبر روی عرشه نیز به قایقهای مهاجم شلیک کردند. هلیکوپترهای آپاچی آمریکایی موشکهای هلفایر و مسلسلهای کالیبر .50 شلیک کردند و هواپیماهای دیگر نیز پشتیبانی هوایی ارائه دادند.
