MediaTek has unveiled an immersion-cooled AI data center in Miaoli, Taiwan, positioning it as the island's most advanced facility of its kind. Servers are assembled by Gigabyte, with core hardware supplied by Nvidia, Intel, and AMD. The facility is designated for MediaTek's own R&D operations.

The move reflects a broader pattern among leading chipmakers to internalize AI compute infrastructure rather than rely solely on third-party cloud providers. For MediaTek — the world's top mobile chip developer by volume — in-house AI capacity directly supports next-generation chip design and validation cycles critical to maintaining design competitiveness.

Taiwan's semiconductor cluster is deepening its vertical integration across chip design, fabrication, and now AI training infrastructure.

🇸🇩🇪🇹🇦🇪 Sudan accuses Ethiopia and UAE of orchestrating drone attacks on Khartoum airport

Sudan has accused Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates of orchestrating drone strikes on Khartoum International Airport on Monday, describing the assault as direct aggression. Sudan's army claims it has conclusive evidence the drones were launched from Bahir Dar airport in Ethiopia, and Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem announced Sudan had recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia for consultations. No casualties were reported, but authorities suspended airport operations for 72 hours. Sudan's military said it tracked and shot down a drone identified as Emirati property that entered Sudanese airspace from Ethiopia.

Ethiopia called the accusations baseless, while the UAE said the unfounded accusations and deliberate propaganda undermined efforts to resolve the conflict. The attack came one week after the first direct international commercial flight in three years landed at the airport.
