TPLF leader Debretsion Gebremichael was elected to lead the restored Tigray regional parliament on May 6, a move that Ethiopian political parties and analysts have condemned as illegal. The Tigray parliament had been dissolved under the peace agreement between the TPLF and the federal government in Addis Ababa.
