🇧🇷⚖️👨‍⚖💬🏦 — BREAKING: Floriano Marques, a justice of Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and one of Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes’ main allies, met at a hotel in Brasília with attorney José Luís Oliveira Lima, known as Juca, who represents banker Daniel Vorcaro in the investigation into the multi-billion-dollar fraud scheme involving Banco Master. One of the topics discussed was the plea bargain proposal presented by Juca to investigators in the case

➡️ In comments to Estadão, Floriano acknowledged meeting with Vorcaro’s lawyer, but said he did not ask questions about the banker’s plea bargain and claimed he merely reacted with “wow, what a thing” when Juca mentioned he had delivered the proposal the previous day.

“He commented that he has been staying here all week and that he was working on this (Vorcaro’s plea deal), which, by the way, was already public today. I truly confess to you that I did not ask anything about it. I confess to you that I went to talk with a friend. Someone I’ve known for 20 years. A longtime friend. We’ve worked together. He said he was staying here, that yesterday he had submitted the plea bargain, and I obviously said: ‘wow, what a thing.’ But I really have no matter to discuss regarding this because I have nothing to do with Master.”

❗️ The meeting between the justice and the lawyer took place on the morning after Vorcaro’s defense team finalized the last adjustments to the plea bargain proposal and submitted the agreement’s so-called “attachments.” Each attachment corresponds to a different subject, identifying people involved in the facts and supporting evidence. The meeting occurred at the B Hotel and, according to reports, the two left the location separately and at different times.

➡️ Floriano Marques is considered one of Moraes’ main allies in legal circles. He joined the TSE in 2023 through a direct recommendation by Moraes—his colleague at the University of São Paulo (USP) Law School—to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who is responsible for appointing members of the court.

🇧🇷 There is an expectation that Vorcaro may provide details to the Federal Police (PF) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) regarding his relationships with STF justices, especially Moraes, due to the frequent contact he reportedly had with the justice and the hiring of Moraes’ wife. Attorney Viviane Barci de Moraes received R$80 million from Banco Master over 22 months of contracts, equivalent to more than R$3.6 million per month.
