The price dropped to around $97 per barrel following news of a potential deal between Washington and Tehran and an extension of the ceasefire.

According to industry sources, oil prices have declined by about 11% in a short period, reaching their lowest level for Brent in two weeks.

The market is reacting to expectations of reduced risks around the Strait of Hormuz and a possible de-escalation in the Middle East.

Russia's MFA spokeswoman Maria Zakharova urged diplomatic missions and international organizations in Kyiv to evacuate staff and citizens immediately, citing the risk of Russian retaliatory strikes on decision-making centers. The warning followed Russia’s unilateral May 8-9 ceasefire declaration and threats of strikes if Ukraine moves against Victory Day commemorations.

Zelensky says Russia answered Ukraine’s full ceasefire proposal with new strikes and attacks across Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Sumy, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. He said Russia halted no form of military activity and Ukraine will act in kind, with further responses determined by the overnight and tomorrow’s situation. Zelensky said Kyiv is ready for peace, but Moscow’s parade now depends on Ukraine.
