🇰🇷 Seoul judge found dead days after Kim Keon-hee verdict

Shin Jong-oh, the appellate judge who overturned a not-guilty ruling and sentenced former first lady Kim Keon-hee to four years, was found dead early Wednesday near the Seoul High Court in Seocho district. The 55-year-old was discovered with severe injuries in a flower bed and pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. Police suspect a fall from the building.

A suicide note was found in his pocket containing phrases including "I am sorry" and "I am leaving of my own accord," though police confirmed it made no reference to Kim's case or his judicial duties. Shin had presided over one of South Korea's most politically charged trials — Kim's April 28 appeals hearing drew public protests and live broadcast crowds outside the courthouse.

Authorities have not identified any third-party involvement. The case remains under investigation.

Kyiv sees no point in a truce for a parade on Red Square after Russia ignored the ceasefire proposed by Ukraine, which began last night.

☢️ Russia is set to conduct nuclear-related tests in Kamchatka ahead of the Moscow parade.

The tests are scheduled for May 6–10 at the Kura test site in the Ust-Kamchatsky district.

The last such tests took place in October 2024, when a Yars missile was launched.

This shows that the Russian leadership is not preparing for the ceasefire, about which so many statements have been made, and is more worried about its parade in Moscow than about the rest of Russia. At the same time, we note that this opens up additional opportunities for our long-range sanctions. Our corresponding priorities will be determined.

Zelensky said the redeployments create new opportunities for Ukraine’s long-range sanctions.

Meanwhile, Russian forces have secured the village of Dorozhnye, whilst Ukrainian army has regained momentum in Bilytske, driving Russian troops out of most of the locality and its south-western outskirts.

Situation on Pokrovsk & Udachnenskaya fronts: During the last five days, Russian army has fully secured the village of Novooleksandrivka and continued to push the front line east of Hryshyne, taking control of new trench systems, as well as along the railway line running parallel to the M-30. In addition, over the last three weeks, Russian troops have managed to secure a series of positions north of Kotlyne and the landfill site, an area that has been subject to heavy artillery fire over the last three months.
