🇨🇳 WSJ: China Is Still Supplying Iran and Russia’s Drone Programs Despite U.S. Sanctions.

Small Chinese companies are openly exporting dual-use drone components—including engines, batteries, fiber-optic cables and chips—to Iran and Russia, often in defiance of U.S. sanctions.

One company, Xiamen Victory Technology, even marketed German-designed L550 drone engines linked to Iran’s Shahed-136 attack drones during recent regional fighting.

U.S. officials say stopping the trade is difficult because drones rely on common commercial parts that are easy to move through global supply chains.

Many Chinese suppliers are small firms with little exposure to U.S. sanctions and increasingly operate openly.

🛳️ CBS News: A cargo ship in the Gulf region was struck by a suspected land-attack cruise missile late Tuesday, injuring several Filipino crew members.

The Australia pact focuses on regional security coordination, the US deal on military modernisation and joint exercises, and the Japan agreement — signed May 4, following Tokyo's easing of arms export restrictions — on maritime cooperation and disaster relief. Officials have framed the deals as responses to global instability.

Analysts caution against reading the agreements as a strategic realignment. Indonesia's defence ties with Western partners predate Prabowo's presidency, and the deals typically cover personnel exchanges, joint drills, and technology transfers — not alliance commitments. Jakarta has simultaneously deepened Belt and Road cooperation with Beijing and signed a crude oil supply agreement with Moscow in April, consistent with its long-standing "bebas aktif" (free and active) non-alignment doctrine.

Translating the agreements into concrete outcomes remains the key test, with analysts noting that signing is the easier step.
