🇦🇺 Australia Names First Female Army Chief

Australia's government announced that Lieutenant General Susan Coyle will become chief of army in July, replacing Lieutenant General Simon Stuart. Coyle, 55, currently serves as chief of joint capabilities and enlisted in the military in 1987.

The appointment marks the first time a woman has led any service branch of the Australian military in its 125-year history. Women currently comprise around 21% of the Australian Defence Force and 18.5% of senior leadership roles, with a target of 25% overall participation set for 2030.

The government also confirmed Vice Admiral Mark Hammond as the new head of the Australian Defence Force, succeeding Admiral David Johnston. Rear Admiral Matthew Buckley will take over from Hammond as chief of navy.

Péter Magyar vowed that Viktor Orbán will never be able to come to power in Hungary again.

The leader of the Tisza party said the country’s constitution would be changed so that a person can serve only two terms as prime minister. This rule would also apply to Orbán, who has been in power in Hungary for 16 years.

Magyar also stated that under Orbán, Hungary had become "the most corrupt country in the EU" and was run by an "organized crime group."
