❗️ If the PT’s requests are accepted, new obstacles not provided for in law would be created for any plea bargain, including Vorcaro’s, who is under investigation for multi-billion financial market fraud. Investigations by the Federal Police indicate that, in order to enable and maintain illegal business in the banking sector, Vorcaro may also have corrupted public officials. The suspicion is that he may have bought influence in the Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary branches.

➡️ The PT’s action, soon to be judged by the STF, however, could represent a problem for Vorcaro’s defense and additional difficulties for the Federal Police and the Prosecutor General’s Office in conducting the agreement. If the party’s requests are accepted, less advantageous benefits may be offered to the banker, which could discourage him from entering into the agreement and, as a result, attempt to annul a possible conviction or nullify the case without a plea deal.

➡️ Another sensitive point of the PT’s action concerns the evidence that could be provided. The party proposes that the whistleblower should not be allowed to submit confidential data belonging to other individuals. At the limit, this could include, for example, cellphone messages or emails from third parties who may be implicated, since their privacy could be exposed.
