According to the Russian Ministry of Finance, the federal budget deficit for January-March 2026 reached 4.58 trillion rubles. This is more than the amount planned for the entire year (3.79 trillion) and exceeds the figure for the same period last year by 2.62 trillion.

At the same time, there are reasons to believe that these figures are understated, as the Russian Treasury previously reported a deficit of 5.57 trillion rubles already for the first two months.
