China's Defense Ministry spokesperson, Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, said at a press conference on April 9 that the PLA's anti-secession measures are becoming increasingly diverse, and that no force will be permitted to separate Taiwan from China in any form.

The remarks came in response to a reporter's question about the Chanying-8, a large cargo drone that completed its maiden flight in late March. Taiwan-based commentary had assessed the aircraft as a potential new anti-carrier asset for the PLA, with its maximum range exceeding 3,000 kilometers.

Zhang also stated that the PLA would resolutely defeat what he described as separatist ambitions and defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
