🇿🇼 Zimbabwe's Ban on Second-Hand Clothing Imports Threatens Poorest Households
Zimbabwe's ZANU-PF government has introduced a ban on the importation of second-hand goods, including clothing, as part of a push to boost the country's struggling textile manufacturing sector. Analysts warn the policy will have devastating consequences for the informal economy, which millions of low-income Zimbabweans depend on for affordable clothing.
The ban disproportionately affects the country's poorest citizens, who rely heavily on second-hand markets as a primary source of affordable goods.

“Genocide of art.” Russian troops have once again shelled the Kherson Kulish Theater.
The building was previously damaged in February 2024 and July 2025. This time, the roof, porticoes, and windows — which had been boarded up with plywood — were severely damaged.
“The Nazis destroyed the Kherson Theater in 1944. The same is happening now. Remember the theater in Mariupol, the Luhansk theater in Sievierodonetsk — now Kherson. This is a targeted genocide of Ukrainian art,” said the general director of the theater, Oleksandr Knyha.
Despite constant attacks, the theater continues to operate, holding performances in a safe basement.

📉Russia's recruitment of contract soldiers for the war has plummeted.
In 2026, the Russian Ministry of Defense planned to recruit 409,000 contract soldiers. Depending on the period, the monthly target is 33,500-34,600 new soldiers.
However, instead of the expected 1,100-1,150 contracts per day, the average daily number of contract signings for the first three months of 2026 was just over 940. It's important to remember that the number of contract signings does not equal the number of new arrivals.
Roughly speaking, if the trend continues, Russia could lose 16%, or more than 65,000 personnel. For comparison, in March alone, Russia lost 31,960 service members killed, injured, wounded, and captured.
