An analyst at the Korea Institute for National Unification cautioned that Ju Ae's tank appearance alone was insufficient to confirm her as heir, noting she appeared alongside her father rather than independently. The NIS also told lawmakers that Kim Yo Jong does not hold independent power and suggestions she was unhappy about the focus on Ju Ae were misplaced.
