🇵🇰🇺🇸 Pakistan's Military Chief Drives US Diplomatic Pivot

Field Marshal Asim Munir has emerged as Pakistan's primary conduit to Washington, holding multiple meetings with President Donald Trump including a one-on-one lunch at the White House. Pakistan's government also apprehended an Islamic State suspect linked to the 2021 Kabul airport bombing and transferred him to US custody, prompting public acknowledgment from Trump and renewed intelligence sharing between the two countries.

Pakistan has since expanded its diplomatic role, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif holding talks with Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. US Vice President JD Vance communicated with Pakistani intermediaries as recently as Tuesday about the Iran conflict, with Trump signalling openness to a ceasefire under certain conditions. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar hosted counterparts from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt in Islamabad for talks focused on ending the Iran war.

Pakistan's economic fragility and its mutual defence pact with Saudi Arabia present constraints on its mediating role. Analysts note the pact risks drawing Pakistan deeper into the Iran conflict and could trigger domestic unrest given Pakistan's large Shia population. Pakistan's ongoing military conflict with Afghanistan and an economy still reliant on IMF support further limit the durability of its diplomatic gains.

Россия планирует установить безвизовый режим еще с тремя странами, сообщил министр экономического развития РФ Максим Решетников.

"В прошлом году мы отменили визы с Китаем, с Саудовской Аравией и Оманом. На очереди Малайзия, Бахрейн, Кувейт", - сказал министр на планерной сессии форума "Интурмаркет-2026" в Нижнем Новгороде.

Как отметил Решетников, также ведется работа по запуску групповых безвизовых турпоездок с Индией и Вьетнамом.

🇨🇳 Chinese firms are reselling record volumes of LNG, cashing in on soaring spot prices as China has enough domestic ‌and pipeline gas to meet its own weakened demand, - Reuters

The world's top importer of liquefied natural gas, China reloaded 8 to 10 cargoes in March, its highest monthly total on record.

So far this year, China has reloaded a record 1.31 million metric tons of LNG, or 19 cargoes, with 10 delivered to South Korea, five ⁠to Thailand and the remainder to Japan, India and the Philippines, Kpler data showed.

By comparison, China resold 0.82 million tons in 2025 and 0.98 million tons in 2023, the second-highest annual total on record.

Asian LNG prices have jumped 85% since the U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28.
