🇬🇧🇺🇸 FT: Tensions between Trump and Starmer over Iran are starting to strain US-UK security co-operation.
US officials are sometimes excluded from sensitive UK meetings, and Britain is taking longer to approve American use of its military bases.
Disagreements over Iran—especially the UK’s reluctance to support initial US strikes—have added to the tension.
At the same time, UK diplomats say access to decision-makers in Washington has become more limited under Trump’s tighter inner circle.

“Kremlin hotline”: Hungary colluded with Russia to secure exemptions from sanctions for oligarchs, companies, and banks, according to a VSquare investigation.
The hotline between Péter Szijjártó and Sergey Lavrov allegedly provided Russia with strategic information on key EU issues.
The investigation claims that the Hungarian foreign minister acted in the Kremlin’s interests, including efforts to remove Russians — among them Gulbahor Ismailova, sister of oligarch Alisher Usmanov — from EU sanctions lists.
In another conversation with Russia’s deputy energy minister, Szijjártó reportedly said he was doing everything possible to block an EU sanctions package and offered to help shield Russian entities from restrictions. He also indicated that Slovakia was supporting this coordinated effort.
According to the report, shortly after returning to Budapest from St. Petersburg on August 30, 2024, Szijjártó received a call from Lavrov, who asked for assistance in removing Ismailova from EU sanctions lists — a request Szijjártó allegedly agreed to support.
Usmanov, a Russian-Uzbek businessman, built his fortune in mining, industry, telecommunications, and media, and is widely described as having close ties to Vladimir Putin.
The conversations reportedly included criticism of the European Union and its officials, including Josep Borrell, then High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Investigators say the calls, recorded between 2023 and 2025, reveal unusually close and cooperative communication between Hungarian and Russian officials, including the exchange of sensitive information about discussions in Budapest and Brussels.
They also suggest coordinated efforts by Hungary and Slovakia to obstruct EU sanctions against Russian individuals and entities.
According to the report, Ismailova was removed from the EU sanctions list on March 14, 2025, during an extension of personal sanctions, following pressure from Hungary. She was delisted alongside Vyacheslav Moshe Kantor and Mikhail Degtyarev.
Transcripts and audio recordings of the conversations were obtained and verified by a consortium of investigative outlets, including VSquare, FRONTSTORY, Delfi Estonia, The Insider, and the Investigative Center of Ján Kuciak.

«Франция не разрешила самолетам, направлявшимся в Израиль с грузом военного снаряжения, пролететь над своей территорией. Франция была ОЧЕНЬ БЕСПОЛЕЗНА в отношении «палача Ирана», который был успешно уничтожен! США ЭТО ЗАПОМНЯТ!!!», - написал он в Truth Social.
