Situation on Blue Nile front: After a month of sporadic fighting and little change on the ground, the joint SPLM/RSF force launched a new offensive. This follows a month of preparations on Ethiopian territory, where reinforcements crossed into Sudanese territory over the weekend (advancing from Yabus along the border to Ulu, where rebel forces entered Malken, which was contested with the SAF) and prepared to launch a coordinated attack on the morning of March 23, advancing toward Kurmuk from two axes: the first from al-Khor to the south; and the second from Ethiopian territory. After crossing the border, the rebel forces took control of the border town of Kurmuk and are attempting to advance northward while the SAF puts up resistance in the vicinity. 🇸🇩🇪🇹

The United States continues preparations for an assault operation on the Iranian islands. 🇺🇸🇮🇷
The Pentagon plans to deploy between 3,000 and 4,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division (an elite unit of the U.S. Army, specializing in rapid deployments) which, combined with the 2,500 Marines sent days earlier aboard the USS Boxer and other amphibious ships, would form a considerable force that would make a hypothetical invasion of the islands a feasible option.
In response, Iran has reinforced Kharg Island with troops, air defenses, and mines, preparing for a potential U.S. ground operation—measures that would be sufficient to make any landing and capture operation costly and risky.
Maintaining control of the island would be difficult and costly in the long term, with high U.S. casualties that would be vulnerable to massive counterattacks from Iranian territory.
