Trump's National Counterterrorism Center director Joe Kent resigned over the Iran war, the first Trump administration official to do so. "I cannot in good conscience support the war in Iran," Kent wrote. "Iran posed no direct threat to our country, and it is clear we started this war under pressure from Israel and its influential American lobby."

Trump responded by calling Kent "weak on security" and his departure "a good thing." "Iran was a huge threat, every country understood that. We don't need people like that."
