Demnach gewannen die von Kiews Soldaten angeführten Seestreitkräfte im September vor der Küste Portugals fünf Übungsszenarien. Ein Grund für den Erfolg sollen die aus dem Schwarzen Meer bekannten Seedrohnen vom Typ Magura sein. Auch andere Einheiten sollen bei den sich gegenseitig ergänzenden Nato-Großübungen "Repmus" und "Dynamic Messenger" Seedrohnen verwendet haben. Eine ukrainische Quelle erzählte der "FAZ", dass die Ukrainer ein Team aus amerikanischen, britischen und spanischen Einheiten angeführt hätten. Einmal seien während eines simulierten Angriffs so viele Übungstreffer gegen eine Fregatte gelungen, dass diese in der Realität gesunken wäre. Es ist nicht das einzige Manöver im vergangenen Jahr, bei dem große Schwächen aufseiten der Nato in Bezug auf unbemannte Systeme zutage kamen. Bei der Übung "Hedgehog" in Estland hatte die 412. Nemesis-Brigade der ukrainischen Drohnenstreitkräfte innerhalb eines Tages laut "Wall Street Journal" unter anderem 17 Fahrzeuge ausgeschaltet.
