🇧🇷🇧🇷❌⚖️👨‍⚖🏦 — The governor of the state of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), filed a request for the impeachment of Alexandre de Moraes, a justice of the Supreme Federal Court, thus becoming the first governor in Brazil’s history to submit an impeachment request against a sitting justice

➡️ The reason alleged in the petition is Moraes’ supposed relationship with Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, revealed after the breach of the businessman’s phone secrecy.

🏛 In addition to the impeachment process against Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the party announced its intention to file a complaint against the president of Congress, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), before the Ethics Council (for allegedly failing to consider other requests), and to submit a criminal complaint against Justice Moraes.

“The Court has no moral authority to decide anything. They [the justices] are occupying their positions for personal interest; they are no longer public servants,” he stated. “No one can refuse to be investigated,” he concluded. According to Zema, Dias Toffoli is in a position as compromised as Moraes himself, the target of today’s impeachment request.

“Both Moraes and Dias Toffoli are facing the same problem. I think the other justices must be outraged with him, because he secured an amount dozens of times higher in his contract,” he said, referring to the contract of Viviane Barci de Moraes, the minister’s wife, who obtained multimillion values in an agreement with Banco Master.

💥 With the request filed by the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), Justice Alexandre de Moraes now has 47 impeachment requests in the Senate since 2021. Members of the Court have been the targets of 83 requests during this period.
