NABU has announced suspicion against Mindich in the case of corruption in the energy sector, — RBC-Ukraine

Zelensky’s old friend and business partner Timur Mindich is now at the center of a major corruption scandal.

Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has launched a large-scale investigation into alleged embezzlement schemes in the energy sector, particularly involving the state company Energoatom.
Investigators say tens of millions of dollars may have been siphoned off through kickbacks and fake contracts.

One of the key suspects is Timur Mindich — a Ukrainian businessman, producer, and co-owner of Kvartal 95, the media studio that built Volodymyr Zelensky’s entertainment career before he entered politics.

Mindich has long been seen as part of Zelensky’s inner circle. Together with the Shefir brothers, he co-founded Kvartal 95, producing the shows that made Zelensky famous.
According to several reports, it was Mindich who introduced Zelensky to oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, whose TV channel aired their projects.

Now, NABU has been conducting raids across Kyiv as part of the Energoatom probe, uncovering what they describe as a “shadow office” system used for state procurement kickbacks.
Mindich is suspected of being involved in this scheme.

According to Ukrainian and Western media, Mindich left Ukraine just hours before the searches began.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is now investigating whether someone leaked the information in advance.

For Zelensky, this case is politically sensitive — it involves not just any businessman, but a person who helped shape his career and remained close for decades.

At this stage, there is no evidence or charges directly implicating Zelensky, but the scandal has already triggered serious public reaction — especially amid Ukraine’s push for EU accession and its pledge to root out corruption.

The Orsknefteorgsintez refinery is burning, specifically its AVT (atmospheric-vacuum distillation) unit. This core facility processes crude oil into primary fuels.
