🇭🇺 Hungary has enjoyed exemptions from EU sanctions on Russian oil since 2022 and can continue importing it without restriction, the European Commission reminded, following the U.S. decision to postpone its sanctions on Budapest.

European Commission spokesperson Ikonen noted that the EU is working on plans to end Russian gas and oil supplies by the end of 2027 — a measure that will remain in force indefinitely — while sanctions, including those imposed by the U.S., are temporary in nature.
