Nach Angaben des ukrainischen Präsidenten Wolodymyr Selenskyj erleidet Moskau immer noch schwere Verluste auf dem Schlachtfeld. In einem Interview mit dem britischen Wochenmagazin Economist sagte Selenskyj, die Vorstellung, Russland gewinne den nun fast zwei Jahre währenden Krieg sei "nur ein Gefühl". Es gebe keine wirklichen Anzeichen dafür, dass Russland an einem Frieden interessiert sei. Jede Andeutung, dass Russland zu Gesprächen bereit sei, zeige nur, dass Moskau die Waffen und die Soldaten ausgingen. Um die russischen Angriffe zu reduzieren müsse die Ukraine die starken russischen Streitkräfte auf der Krim angreifen und die Städte im Osten des Landes verteidigen. Eine Mobilisierung sei "der einzige Weg, um unseren Staat zu schützen und die Besetzung unseres Landes zu beenden."
