Credit to the government declined for the third consecutive month, falling to N32.7 trillion in August 2026.

This is according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The decline came as credit to the private sector increased to N84.55 trillion, although it remained below the N94.61 trillion recorded in February 2026.

US expands social media checks to foreign media journalists, other visa applicants from Oct 1


The United States will expand mandatory social media screening to I, TN and TD visa applicants from October 1, 2026, requiring applicants in the affected categories to make their social media profiles public or open.

The new requirement will apply to I visa applicants, including foreign journalists and other foreign media representatives, as well as TN professionals and TD dependents under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), Travel Biz reported.
