First, here’s a quick backstory on yield farming and NFTs:

Yield-generation NFTs were not the first thing to come to mind when non-fungible tokens were first launched.
Back then, it was mostly about catchy images and shiny, rare collections.

But things have greatly evolved since then.

At Nimbus, we have always believed that the immutable NFT tech, if explored & and implemented in the right way, can unlock extremely powerful use cases.
That’s how Smart Staker NFT was created. DeFi’s first yield-generating NFTs use a hybrid strategy to generate two types of rewards on a single asset.

How does the Smart Staker work?

When users supply the base asset i.e. BUSD/BNB, the smart contract splits the deposited into native tokens. These tokens are directed to two reward strategies, and a Smart Staker is minted 70% of the tokens are directed to Soft Staking, and the other 30% go to LP Staking on the Nimbus Platform.

This means Smart Staker holders receive 2 different rewards on a single base asset for as long as they hold their NFTs.

Inflation and deflation are important concepts in finance and also in the crypto field. A token’s value is connected to its supply as well as to the demand.
So in today’s glossary, we’ll cover an important token model: The Deflationary Token.

Read along to see what its mechanism is and what advantages it brings.

If the token supply decreases instead of increasing through excessive mining, the value of that token will rise as long as the demand remains steady. So deflation may be bad in TradFi, but deflationary tokens are beneficial in crypto.

How to keep a token deflationary?
There are different approaches that projects can take. They usually remove tokens from the market through buy-backs and token burns.
Some exchanges destroy some of their tokens; others turn to bank-like inflationary and deflationary measures to keep their tokens at the desired value. Lowering mining rewards can be another strategy.

Key aspects of deflationary tokens:
- Supply is lower than demand.
- The limited availability leads to higher purchasing power
- Inflationary tokens can become deflationary by fixing a particular cap or supply, but the other way around isn’t possible
- Their value increases over time if there is a demand

NIMB is a perfect example of a completely deflationary token because we don’t place more tokens than the market demands. The mint function is limited by the total supply of 10B tokens, but we only call the MINT function when more liquidity needs to be added to the initial acquisition.
