The President of Russia has declared a ceasefire for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

By order of Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Russian side, guided by humanitarian motives, announces a ceasefire for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War to last from May 8, 00:00 Moscow time to May 11, 00:00 Moscow time. Any military operations will be ceased during this period.

Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example.

In the event of any violations of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian side, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will give a proportionate and efficient response.

The Russian side reiterates its willingness to enter peace talks without preconditions, with a view to eliminating the root causes behind the Ukraine crisis and establishing constructive interaction with international partners.
On April 29, Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will take part in commemorative events for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War to be held in Volgograd

🔹More specifically, the leaders will tour the memorial complex to the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad on Mamayev Kurgan together and will address the final plenary session of the "Great Heritage, Common Future" International Forum, held at the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

🔹Additionally, the presidents will hold a separate conversation to discuss current issues pertaining to the strategic partnership and allied relationship between Russia and Belarus.

🔹The Russian President's schedule also includes a working meeting with Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov.

In the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the presidents of Russia and Belarus have honoured the memory of the valiant defenders of Stalingrad by laying wreaths at the Eternal Flame in the Hall of Military Glory and flowers at the tombstone of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Marshal Vasily Chuikov.
