Vladimir Putin made a visit to the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and held a meeting on the development of space exploration
Founded in 1830, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University is considered a talent factory for the Russian space industry, among other sectors. Its alumni include the great Soviet rocket engineer Sergei Korolev.
During his visit, the President toured the dormitory complex and the recreational facility before having a conversation with several of the university's top students.
Later, Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of space exploration. The discussion revolved primarily around the national project for the development of the space sector both until 2030, and for the long term until 2036.
Some of the key statements by the President:
🔹The best national traditions in terms of space industry personnel training are upheld and enriched today. The contribution from young people to Russia's various space projects must be increased.
🔹Russia's space exploration ambitions should be in line with its historical status of a leading space power. The potential of the country's space industry must be developed so as to make it one of the driving forces behind the national development, the technological transformation of the economy, and the improvement of the quality of life for citizens.
🔹A comprehensive national project in the field of space exploration will be approved in the very near future. It should serve to articulate as clearly as possible both short-term and long-term goals of Russia's space programme. This will make it possible to set specific tasks for research institutions as well as the education and training system right now.
🔹An entire industry for space communications, navigation, as well as satellite data collection and analysis is to be established by 2030. Innovative and competitive solutions must be made available domestically. With that object in mind, the relevant national project must include support measures for Russian universities, research institutions, design bureaus, and private companies in the sector.
🔹The national project must also provide for a qualitative step forward in the field of space nuclear energy. Russia's uncontested leadership in the sector must be asserted further.
🔹Fundamental outer space research must become one of the crucial aspects of the national project for the development of space exploration. Achievements in the field may contribute significantly to international programmes. Russia is open to cooperation and is willing to implement joint projects.
🔹Any space exploration projects are complex and require significant investment. However, as a large sovereign country, Russia has a vital need for such projects.
