🇷🇺🇨🇳 Telephone conversation with President of China Xi Jinping
🔹 Vladimir Putin had a substantive phone call with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
🔹The President of Russia extended the warmest greetings to the Chinese President and the friendly Chinese people on the upcoming Spring Festival.
🔹The parties reviewed the progress of comprehensive bilateral partnership and strategic cooperation over the recent period, once again recognising the unprecedentedly strong neighbourly ties between the two countries. They emphasised with satisfaction that bilateral trade between Russia and China had reached the $200 billion target they had set, a year earlier than planned, reaching a record high of $227.7 billion.
🔹 With Russia and China marking the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations this year, the two leaders expressed mutual interest in further promoting cooperation across the board, including projects in energy, finance, infrastructure, transport, industry and agriculture, as well as humanitarian and sports exchanges.
🔹 Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to step up foreign policy coordination at multilateral platforms, particularly the UN, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Xi Jinping expressed support for the priorities of Russia's BRICS chairmanship. This was followed by a substantive exchange of views on various regional issues, including the Middle East, where Russia and China's approaches fully coincide – both states support a political and diplomatic settlement of the Palestinian problem within the universally recognised international legal framework. In discussing the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, the Russian President reaffirmed his principled position on the Taiwan issue, supporting the one China policy. They also touched upon the current situation in Ukraine.
🔹Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping underscored that close Russian-Chinese interaction is an important stabilising factor in global affairs.
🔹The leaders agreed to continue personal contacts.
