Vladimir Putin visited the Resurrection Cathedral and the Museum of the Russian Patriarchate in Arzamas

In the museum, on the ground floor of the cathedral, the President saw a presentation of projects built and re-created as part of the programme to develop the Arzamas-Diveyevo-Sarov pilgrimage and tourism cluster.

The head of state was accompanied by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin and Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas.

Vladimir Putin toured the grounds of the convent and visited the Trinity and Annunciation cathedrals. The President presented the convent with a 17th century icon of Our Lady of Saint Theodore.

“Notably, when we talked in 2014, our ill-wishers were just taking their first steps as they tried to limit our technological sovereignty and obstruct our development. <...> I must say that, first, our predictions have come true; everything happened just as we said it would. They also provoked the conflict in Ukraine and used it to their advantage. I believe all of that was done with the specific goal of limiting our economic growth and containing us,” the President noted in his opening remarks.

The President launched traffic on Bagration Prospekt (the northern relief road of Kutuzovsky Prospekt), the southern direction of Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MHSD) and Moscow Central Diameter-4 (MCD-4)

Bagration Prospekt is a toll road with no traffic lights which will help ease traffic Kutuzovsky Prospekt and Mozhayskoye motorway. The MHSD's southern section is a new motorway from Shosse Entuziastov up to the 32nd kilometre of the Moscow Automobile Ring Road in the area of Varshavskoye motorway. The fourth line of MCD-4, the Kaluzhsko-Nizhegorodskaya line, will run through central Moscow from the west to the east and connect Aprelevka with Zheleznodorozhny.

The President held a videoconference on the Smolensk Region's socioeconomic development

🔸“First, I would like to congratulate the region’s residents on the 80th anniversary of the Smolensk Region's liberation from Nazi occupation, and on the city's 1160th anniversary, which is marked this year. We all know and are proud of the huge role Smolensk has always played in history: it is a hero city and the shield of Russia.”

🔸“The Smolensk Region has gained momentum in several important areas of socioeconomic development, where we can see considerable achievements. For example, the industrial production index in the first half of 2023 amounted to 111.9 percent. This is the 7th place in Russia, and a good result in general. Moreover, industry is the leading sector of the region's economy, providing for over one third of the GRP. Moreover, manufacturing enterprises are growing especially well: 17.5 percent growth over six months of 2023, which is higher than the Russian average.”
🇷🇺🇲🇱 Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Interim President of the Republic of Mali Assimi Goïta at the latter’s initiative

🔹Vladimir Putin expressed condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in northeastern Mali on September 7.

🔹The presidents had a substantive exchange of opinions on practical measures for the further development of Russia-Mali cooperation in various areas, such as trade, the economy and humanitarian spheres, as well as efforts to tackle terrorism.

🔹Assimi Goïta thanked Vladimir Putin for the support provided by the Russian side, in particular, during the recent UN Security Council vote on lifting international sanctions against the Republic of Mali.

🔹While discussing issues of ensuring stability in West Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region, the sides agreed on the need to resolve the situation in the Republic of Niger through political and diplomatic means.

🔹The presidents agreed to continue contacts at various levels.
