If you spend a lot of time on social networks and other cheap-dopamine, "funny" things on your phone, try grayscale.
There is grayscale on iPhone and Bedtime on Android, perfectly paired with Do Not Disturb/Focus modes.
Personally, I wasn't using Bedtime because of two things:
1. I have a lot of work (job, self-study, writing here, etc.), and I enjoy doing it.
2. Since Nothing OS 2, there is a gray icons mode out of the box and a wallpaper "AI" generator, which makes it easy to generate stylish abstract black and white pictures. So I used it because it just feels nice, especially since I was already aiming for really short screen time.
If grayscale/Bedtime is too tough for you, you may start with scheduling it only for a few hours of focused work, or event just start with a boring wallpaper and monochrome icons.
And remember, there is no "too small time window" for doing or learning something.
I will try it out and let you know if it helps me use this brick even less, because there is still room for improvement.

There is no greater pleasure than manually deleting something from the production database to mitigate an incident. 😎

Hello. Nothing technical today, really. Just some thoughts that struck me a few days ago. https://ivanzakutnii.com/blog/I-have-tried-to-love-Python
Well, I love it.
After a month of coding in Go again, I realized that something has changed (everything changes at every moment)🙏
Maybe I'm getting dumb from moving cards in Jira?
Maybe otherwise, and I've learned a whole bunch of thinking, but anyway, there's no way I will use Go as my general-purpose language.
The things I admired in the past now make me feel awful while coding, as if I am in a gnarly prison😩
Well, then there is simply no choice except to get more furry, but not now.
Cos It will be much better to focus on one thing at a time (at least in learning), and become better in it.

I will never understand and forgive "engineers" who choose some technology "just because."
Just because I read about it in some really cool tech blog.
Just because I heard about it at some conference from a cool speaker.
Just because I want to try it.
Just because everyone else is using it.
Just because it has a fancy name.
Just because it’s the latest trend.
Just because it was recommended by a friend.
Just because it seems popular on social media.
Just because it promises to solve this problems.
It is a selfish, irresponsible, immature, and purely egotistic way of making decisions.
For a minute - architectural decisions that can and do have colossal consequences.
In the best case, it will require time and mental efforts of other engineers to fix this up, if it is even possible to fix.
In the worst case, it might lead to financial and other losses.
But the money is not "yours," right? Damn.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
I bring you some good thoughts on information (or data, whatever) redundancy,
and this is far from being about database denormalization.
Please take a peek and lemme know what you think about it in the comments.
Click me, come on!
Love you all😊

Hello, everybody, everywhere!
I hope you’re all doing well and staying healthy.
Here is my fresh post about conditional statements, especially about how to write them less.

Please, lemme know what do you think about it in the comments 🙂

Automation of tasks… How much meaning can be hidden behind these words, how many tasks.
When considering automating anything, be mindful.
Focus on repetitive actions and their frequency.
Why mention frequency?
Because there are jokes about spending 20 hours programming to automate something you could’ve done in 15 minutes.
If it’s something you do once a year, it’s better to check your backlog first.
But often, we repeat a tedious sequence of actions so much that it eventually drives us crazy.
Please, be kind to yourself. If you find yourself repeating the same actions over 2-3 weeks, it’s a red flag to ask:
If the answer is “quite likely,” ask:
If it’s within a day — definitely do it!
And don’t go to the opposite extreme — I’ve seen people try to automate literally everything, even things they’ll never repeat.
While it might be good coding practice, is it really worth it?

What are the chances I’ll repeat these actions in the next two weeks?

How long will it take to automate this?
