Hello everybody, and everywhere!
I hope all of you are fine and doing well.
I am starting a series of HighLoad-related posts today.
The first one is a comprehensive introduction to the main concepts of designing robust and reliable systems.
Grab some tea; you will need it.

Hey, bandits!
I've dug up and resurrected my old third post in the series about the Declarative Computation Model!
Check it out, it's mind-boggling stuff.

Week of production incidents, LMAO.
So there's been a delay, but here it is, another hefty letter mattress.
Sometimes I wonder, does anyone actually read these? Or is it time to write bullshit like:
"TOP TEN GITHUB REPOS EVERY REACT DEVELOPER SHOULD STAR"?
Just kidding. Only the tough topics here for tough men.
We're continuing with the highload saga, folks.

Hey,
Lemme take a break from the HighLoad saga.
Here is a solid bunch of theory on how to reason about dependencies in software engineering.
(yet, this is highly applicable in practice, of course, if digested by brains.)
The material might feel a bit clumsy, but I tried my best.

There is literally no reason to post it on dev.totrashyard, lol.

Highload saga, here we go again. The main subject is the same, but today we're taking a sneak peek at some relatively low-level things we need to know about data storage subsystems.

Hello, no memes today.
New part of the highload saga. Basic things about OLTP/OLAP differences and how OLAP storage systems essentially work.

Until next time.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
Sometimes I wonder, looking at all this quirky crap - is there another kind of beauty in the software design universe?
Yes, there is. Yes, of course, it smells of FP... what did you expect?😐

Hello, dear subscribers. I've been away for a while.
Well... some of you know why. There's been a lot of NOT REALLY INTERESTING work out there.
No interesting posts for today, just a small note on why I've changed the blog domain and what I am thinking about where this blog should go from here.

The nature of time is a cause of numerous bugs in computer systems, and not only. Take a look at this great post about time from Marc Brooker:

Thus shall you think of this fleeting world: A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream; a flash of lightning in a summer cloud, a flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.
