Ethiopia's National Artificial Intelligence Policy

I'm trying to find the original policy and will go over it but here is a quick summary of some of the things. I wish it works out and I'll be super happy if all these happen but do I doubt it, yes!

In a country like Ethiopia I don't think AI would progress unless it's open and there's a great supportive collaboration among all the people involved. And I don't see that in the policy among many things.

If you are interested in Computer Vision make sure to apply here. It's a great program and I was a TA there last year and learned a lot too and met some cool people.

The curriculum emphasizes the importance of ethical considerations, geometry and math, deep learning and AI.

ACVSS will happen from July 13 to 23 in Kigali, Rwanda.

This is interesting, how is tensorflow beating Jax in a normal 10,000 × 10,000 matrices multiplication(element-wise)?

Anway, if you only need per-element operations, use multiply() (very fast) and tf will be faster than jax.

If you need actual matrix computations and wanted to do dot product, use matmul() (takes much longer time). JAX is the best for it

I was impressed at the Amharic TTS and also when bro wrote amharic in english "endezih" and it understood. Not to mention it scrapes telegram channels and understands major Ethiopian languages,

How can a startup says they work on AI, blockchain, nanotech, quantum computing etc and all while being Africa-based. They're not disrupting the market, they're defying physics.

If United win today, I don't see any reason why AGI won't happen soon.
