pretty good week overall. everything played out more or less as expected
banked the cashcat scalp twice and i’m debating one last entry around $30m. still undecided on whether there’s long term longevity
arc mainnet rpcs keep showing up every 4h before getting shut down. i’m holding a decent position in $architects while it sits around a $2m market cap. I don’t expect much to happen until the bridge officially opens so i’m happy to let that thesis play out over time
still holding my sol longs. roughly 75% spot and 25% leveraged, which i’m comfortable with for now. the coldcard news probably ends up marking the bottom of crypto sentiment so im very much still long crypto
other than that, not much has changed. touched some grass, spent the day at the beach with family, and disconnecting from the charts for a bit
hope everyone is enjoying their weekend

beach and touching grass looks good here
anyway, maintaining above positions. nothing more till further notice.
SOL to $85-90
$architects hit 3m quietly and bridging still isn’t possible
600k -> 3m
hold till mainnet goes live and it continues to go parabolic as people bridge in and ape

gamble before bed
$luna on tempo is the tempo founder’s dog. sits at 70k. the gamble is whether tempo picks up or not so will just have to wait and see

Luna decided to escape from home today and was swiftly located thanks to an AirTag. An excellent invention.

bought some $delta $380k mcap rn, 6 days old
basically a tool to help you build better liquidity pool strategies. idea already has PMF (Beefy, Meteora, Orca, etc) just ported to robinhood. dev seems relatively safu so I took a bet. think it could go. not sure if there’s value accrual to the token so I’ll dig deeper tomorrow

just found out my flight back home happens to be on a day of a solar eclipse
eclipses are better understood as symbols of transition. the light is temporarily concealed and then everything returns in a different position
eclipses are often associated with endings, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle
there’s something fitting about returning home under one. leaving one place, returning to another, and passing through a moment of darkness between the two
a strange symbol for a new beginning
and maybe we’re about to enter a very wealthy and prosperous period in our lives. crypto has been through enough despair so maybe this is the beginning of a new cycle

Near's Notes ✍️
been a week since i last wrote one of these. first of all, I wanted to acknowledge my previous post. It didn't play out the way i expected, and that's on me. when you put your ideas out publicly you're going to be wrong sometimes. the important part is learning…

one of the hardest feelings i deal with every year is leaving my home country after visiting. there is always a strange sense that i’ve left something behind. not just people or places but some version of myself that still exists there. for a few weeks i’m surrounded by everything familiar again, and then suddenly i’m back at the airport
but i also know what happens if i stay. i become comfortable. time passes and years pass and eventually i’m looking at the same streets, having the same conversations, wondering what my life could have become if i’d taken the risk and left when i had the chance
today feels appropriate for that transition since my flight is on a solar eclipse. the sun disappears, darkness takes its place, and then the light returns
perhaps that’s what leaving is in a sense. you step away from everything you know without any guarantee that what’s next will be better. you just have to trust that remaining somewhere you have already outgrown is its own kind of slow death
the light, then the darkness, then the light again, just like the eclipse
the only way to move is forward

if you ever feel stuck in life, sometimes the thing keeping you there is comfort
the human mind is viciously good at rationalizing stagnation. the familiar feels safe even when you’ve already outgrown it. you tell yourself you’ll do it when you’re more prepared, more financially secure, more certain, when the timing is finally right
but certainty never comes before the leap of faith
at some point you have to risk the possibility of failure, loneliness, embarrassment and regret because there is another kind of failure that could happen: waking up years later and realizing you spent your life protecting yourself from the very uncertainty that could have changed it
take the risk

a very good book you should read once in your life is kierkegaard’s “fear and trembling”
it is essentially a meditation on one of the most interesting stories in the abrahamic religions. god gives abraham a son, isaac, after he has waited nearly a 100 years for the child promised to him. a child who is supposed to become the beginning of a great nation and a child through whom the entire promise is supposed to unfold. after god blesses abraham with isaac, god tells abraham to take isaac, his only son, to mount moriah (temple mount, jerusalem) and sacrifice him
and so abraham gets up and takes the knife and takes his son and he walks toward the mountain knowing exactly what he has been commanded to do, with no explanation
this is profound because it isn’t a heroic story where someone saves the person they love through strength or cleverness and there is no enemy to defeat, no riddle to solve, no skill that can overcome the situation, etc.. abraham is being asked to kill the very thing he loves the most, the very thing through which god promised his future would exist, and the very thing which he had asked god for.. for 100 years
kierkegaard compares abraham to figures like agamemnon, who in greek mythology is also commanded to sacrifice his daughter but agamemnon’s sacrifice belongs to an entirely different category where he sacrifices his daughter so the greek fleet can sail to troy and the war can continue. there is logic to it even though it’s an inherently brutal act to do. something is sacrificed so something else can be achieved
yet abraham has no such bargain. he cannot reason his way out of the contradiction and he definitely cannot bargain with god. he cannot calculate the probability of isaac surviving or hope he does. there is no rationale between the command he has received and the future he has been promised
yet he continues toward the mountain and that is the exact moral of the story: the absurdity of faith. abraham has every reason, from the perspective of the finite world, to believe that he is walking toward the end of everything he was promised, and that kind of faith is terrifying because it leaves you with nothing to hold onto except the belief itself
a lot of our lives is spent waiting for certainty, we want the numbers to just make sense, the path to just be obvious and the outcome to be almost guaranteed, but that isn’t faith
abraham walks up the mountain with a knife in his hand and a promise that, by every human calculation, is about to become impossible and yet he keeps walking. he doesn’t jump knowing and thinking that he’ll land but he jumps because he believes there is something on the other side that he cannot see
