King Γthelstan, grandson of Alfred the Great.
On this day
12 July 927
King Γthelstan became King of the English.
At a gathering at Eamont Bridge on the border of Cumberland and Westmorland, he completed the forging together of the old Heptarchy into one unified England.
England, Our Land

National Conservatism is a new brand of populism. And a US/Israeli influence operation to turn the parties of the European right into the GOP.
Its figures campaign loudly for sharp restrictions on immigration.
And yet? They are currently overseeing or planning to attract rates of mass migration from non-white countries that would make Angela Merkel blush.
Do people in Poland, Italy, Hungary and other subjects of Washington want this? The fact that they voted for leaders that campaigned on the exact opposite tells us they don't!

Today is the birthday of the late John Hutchins Tyndall (14 July 1934 β 19 July 2005), chairman of the National Front (NF) from 1972 to 1974 and again from 1975 to 1980, and then chairman of the British National Party (BNP) from 1982 to 1999.
βOur creed is one of heroism and the coming epoch calls for the return of the heroic virtues. Not for us the cosy tranquillity of the political soft option; for us only the long march through the cold night β which must precede the glorious dawn.β

The sad story of the village of Tyneham
Prior to 1943, Tyneham was a working Dorset village; a simple, rural community with a Post Office, church and school. Most inhabitants relied on farming and fishing for their livelihood.
In November 1943 all 225 residents were served notice that they had just 28 days to leave as this peaceful village and 7,500 acres of surrounding heathland were to be commandeered by the War Office to help train allied troops.
At Christmastime in 1943 the last residents left believing one day they could return.
On the day of evacuation a letter, written by the villagers, was pinned to the church door. It pleaded:
βPlease treat the church and houses with care. We have given up our homes, where many of us have lived for generations, to help win the war and keep men free. We shall return one day, and thank you for treating the village kindly."
