Find more books in the recent community post. I also posted links to the exercises where I used these books to practice clarity, grammar, brevity, reading, and self-reflection skills.
Have you read any of these?
P.S. The books that I recommend will remind you of the importance of mindful repetition and deep concentration.
There are other books out there that say that repetition is not necessary, that learning can and should be fun, and that restlessness and distraction are the friends of successful learning. This is only (partially) true for learning trivial skills and learning about skills. Once you become good at something and you want to get better, these strategies will fail you.
The books I recommend focus on achieving mastery, going beyond average, and learning to direct your mind.
Community members have access to all of them + exercices and strategies on how to use them in their practice.

A fragment from today's Sunday Practice.
We don't just practice fluency because we want more than fluency alone.
We want clarity in spontaneous speech. It's a skill worth practicing in your first language. It's 10 times more difficult to practice in a foreign language.
People want to face their problems head-on and solve them right away. They're ready to deal with poor grammar, wrong words, and longwinded sentences. It's not always obvious to learners that they need to deal with their own urge to be distracted or run away from painful experiences. It's not obvious that we need to learn to direct our attention before we pay attention to how we speak and the mistakes we're making.
Join the practice. Every Sunday you will gain more clarity on what exercises YOU need to do during the upcoming week to see progress. All the exercises can be found in the community.
You will always receive feedback and guidance. nataliatokar.me/community

I created a new telegram channel where I will be sharing moments of real practice and how real people get stuck, feel clueless, iterate, take feeedback, can't take the feedback, get UNstuck, and eventually change what used to be a given.
Check out the new post. https://t.me/watch_practice/10

To improve is to change. Everybody knows that. Yet, so few are ready to drive the creative destruction. They prefer to wait for the change to happen to them.
I call this strategy "doing the bare minimum and hoping for the best"
To improve, you must drive change, not wait for it to take you to unwanted places.
Change before you have to.

My pronunciation is unbalanced, because most of my patterns have been broken, and I can hear it. I’m basically learning to listen to myself again.
Don’t let this distract you. Focus on the message.
And give me about a month. I stated a practice routine that is helping me sound more consistent.
