26 people were killed in a village in the Mopti region in Mali the day before yesterday, Sunday, in an attack carried out by an armed group while the villagers were working in the fields.

This attack is not the first incident in the region, as the same village previously witnessed a similar attack in early July that killed about 40 people, in addition to another attack in May that killed more than 20 people.

It is noteworthy that the Global Terrorism Index for 2023 classified Mali as the second most affected country by terrorism in Africa after Burkina Faso, based on the number of deaths resulting from terrorist attacks during the year 2022.
