The Algerian police raided a secret meat preparation workshop in the state of Oran, west of the country, and discovered the use of a corpse-preserving substance in chicken meat, which is considered a violation of health and food laws.

The police were able to seize 467 kilograms of white meat that was not fit for consumption, after discovering that the owner of the workshop was using a “Laval” chemical solution to hide the smells of decay and improve the appearance of the meat.

The authorities confirmed that the distributor, who is considered one of the most prominent suppliers in the region, was providing processed meat to restaurants and fast-food outlets.

Inside the workshop, three buckets containing Laval solution, which was used to treat rotting meat, were found.

It added that “in the latest setback, American forces were compelled to leave Niger, where the Pentagon had a long-standing security partnership.”
