The “Wall Street” Journal quoted Egyptian officials as saying that Egypt is considering downgrading its diplomatic relations with Israel.

The newspaper quoted one of the officials as saying that “Egypt is considering reducing diplomatic relations with Israel by withdrawing the country’s ambassador in Tel Aviv,” against the backdrop of military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah.

“At the moment, there are no plans to suspend relations or get rid of Camp David,” another Egyptian official said, referring to the agreements that led to the 1979 peace treaty.

"But as long as Israeli forces remain at the Rafah crossing, Egypt will not send a single truck to Rafah."

A few days ago, Egypt announced its intention to support South Africa's lawsuit before the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian authorities refused to reopen their border with Gaza after Israeli forces took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing.

Israel and Egypt have developed an important security partnership since 1979, and the militaries of the two countries have worked closely together, especially under the regime of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, but the Rafah operation has sharply strained relations.

Egypt is a key mediator in indirect talks between Israel and Hamas on a deal aimed at freeing hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza.

On Tuesday, Turkish authorities arrested eight people in a security operation targeting the terrorist organization “ISIS” in six provinces, where the operation was concentrated in the state of Şanlıurfa.

On the instructions of the Prosecutor’s Office, the teams of the Directorate of the Anti-Terrorism Branch of the Şanlıurfa Gendarmerie Command have begun work to detect terrorist organizations and arrest their members.

After the security authorities identified the addresses where the people were suspected, eight people believed to be members of the Islamic State were arrested in simultaneous operations that included several provinces, including Istanbul, Mersin, Konya, Sakarya and Bolu.

During the address search, 10 digital items were seized, according to data from the Anti-Terrorism Branch Directorate teams.

This comes in the context of the Turkish government's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, as the Turkish Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, announced on the first of this month the arrest of 41 people suspected of belonging to the "ISIS" organization in a large-scale security operation that included 12 states.

The French newspaper “Le Parisien” revealed on Monday, a sharp quarrel occurred between the president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and the team’s star Kylian Mbappe, before the team’s match against Toulouse on Sunday.

The newspaper reported that the brawl broke out just before the start of the match between Saint-Germain and Toulouse, which was held at the Parc des Princes stadium in the 33rd round of the French league on Sunday.

The newspaper indicated that the main reason for the confrontation was the request of Al-Khelaifi from Mbappe, aged 25, clarifications regarding his absence from the video in which the latter announced his departure from the club, noting that the quarrel reflects the tension between Al-Khelaifi and Mbappe.

The video that caused the controversy thanked Mbappe for a large number of people, but did not mention Al-Khelaifi, who in 2022 made him the biggest physical offer in football history.

Niger’s official channel “Tele Sahel” announced that China’s Azelik (Soumina) Mines Company will resume uranium mining in Niger after a 10-year hiatus due to “lack of profitability”.

“Soumina plans to resume uranium production, the situation is appropriate today,” the channel said, without specifying a date, referring to the remarkable rise in global prices for several months.

The price of a pound (453 grams) of uranium has risen to between $90 and $100 since the start of the year, up to five times more than in 2016, when it reached its lowest level.

This rise is due to a recovery in demand for nuclear energy and international geopolitical tensions.

Niger's mining minister, Ousmane Abarchi, visited the Azelik facilities on Saturday and stressed that "preventive measures against the risks of radioactive contamination will be taken".

In June 2023, the Government of Niger, and China National Uranium Corporation signed (CNUC)  a Memorandum of Understanding  to resume “Soumina's” activities.

Niger is the world's fourth-largest uranium producer, but it remains among the poorest countries on the planet, with the country struggling to exploit reserves.

Abdallah Bathili , the former head of the UN mission in Libya, accused the country’s main players of “monopolizing the political process.”

🇱🇾🇱🇾🇱🇾🇱🇾🇱🇾🇱🇾🇱🇾

In an interview published on Monday, Bathili noted that Libya’s political leaders were not interested in the country’s actual stability during the past transitions.

Bathili explained that no solution can be reached in Libya as long as this situation continues, pointing to the desire of political leaders to share the fruits of governance among them, rather than seeking the stability of the country.

“Libya is not a poor country, in fact, it is a very rich country, producing 1.3 million barrels of oil per day, and there are enough resources for every Libyan to live in prosperity,” Bathili said, referring to the level of corruption in Libya.

"There is no transparency, Libyans talk about corruption in the government, and when you look at the situation in the education sector and in the health sector, you see the destruction left by the wars, and the infrastructure has not been rebuilt," Batelli said.

The incident occurred near a toll station in Enerkaville, in the area of Or, when the truck carrying a prisoner was suddenly attacked.

A security source said that the attackers came in two cars and then fled, confirming the injury of one of the attackers, without explaining the total number of attackers.

French broadcaster “BFMTV” reported that the attack took place as the convoy returned to Évreux prison after a hearing at the Rouen court, while Le Parisien newspaper noted that the escaped prisoner was convicted of the crime of “theft”.

The newspaper added that the prisoner escaped with the help of the attackers who carried out the operation around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to French police, the fugitive is suspected of committing a murder in Marseille and had ties to the powerful "black" gang in the city, and media reports identified the fugitive as Mohamed A., 30 years old.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on the “X” website that "this morning's attack, which took the lives of agents in the prison administration, is a shock to all of us." "The nation stands with the families and colleagues of the injured, and what is necessary will be done to find the perpetrators of this crime so that justice is served in the name of the French people," he said.
