Concerns are growing in Spain about the military escalation between Morocco and Algeria, according to a report in Spanish newspaper “El Independiente”.

The report shows that increased spending on armaments by the two countries is worrying in Spain, which is their neighbor.

Information in the report indicates that the Algerian and Moroccan militaries share the highest budget positions in Africa, with both increasing their military spending last year.

According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Algeria allocated $18.3 billion to the military in 2023, while Morocco invested $5.2 billion.

While Spain ranks 17th globally in military spending, Algeria ranks 19th, and Morocco is not ranked among the top forty countries that spend on the military, according to the same source.

An “Il-76” transport plane loaded with a shipment of Russian humanitarian aid arrived in Niger, at the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Reports indicate increased Russia’s interaction with Niger, with the Pentagon cautiously reporting on the deployment of Russian troops on the territory of the capital’s military base.

A humanitarian aid flight from Moscow arrived in the Nigerien capital, where a large shipment of food and basic necessities was loaded onto trucks by the Niger army.

Sputnik Africa quoted a Nigerian military source as saying, “Russia has extended a helping hand to us and provided us with the necessary products, while other countries are besieging our state, and the general population is suffering.

Watch Video 🗯

This aid comes as part of Russia’s support for the people of Niger, which has been provided significantly compared to the United States, which has ignored the suffering of the population at the expense of its military ambitions.

Relations between Russia and Niger developed even before last summer’s military coup that toppled President Mohamed Bazoum, with Russia supplying Niger with military helicopters.

Agreements have been concluded between the two parties on military cooperation, the supply of military products, joint training of forces and the exchange of counter-terrorism experience since 2017.

Russian experts recently arrived in Niger to train local security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The arrival of the Russian experts in Niger followed a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of Niger’s ruling National Council, General Abderrahmane Chiani, during which the two sides agreed to develop cooperation in various fields.

Sudan’s Foreign Minister-designate, Hussein Awad, issued a strongly worded statement on Saturday, condemning the statements of his Chadian counterpart, which denied his country’s support for any party in Sudan.

Awad stressed in his statement that these statements “do not reflect the brotherly Chadian people”, considering them an attempt to deny despite the existence of “clear evidence” of Chad’s support for the Rapid Support Forces.

The statement referred to accusations that Chad passed weapons and property looted from Sudan through its territory, while mentioning the arrival of military vehicles to Chad through the Cameroonian port of Douala, and their alleged destination for the “terrorist” militia through Chad.

Awad said in the statement that these statements refer to Chad’s interference in Sudan’s internal affairs, describing them as disregard for the victims of genocide committed by a rebel militia in El Geneina, near the border with Chad.

Awad called on the Chadian government to “return to its senses and stop fueling war and horrific violations” against the Sudanese people, stressing that whoever sets fire to Sudan will not be immune from it.
