Уже 8 ноября стартует наша экспедиция в Южную Эфиопию, где мы отправимся на правый берег реки Омо.

Во время экспедиции мы встретимся с большим количеством племен. Например, познакомимся с племенем сурма и исследуем их культуру ритуального нанесения шрамов и ношения тарелок в губах.
🤯 Существует несколько теорий о ношении тарелок в губах:
— обезображивание для предотвращения порабощения арабами в древности;
— защита от проникновения злых духов в тело через рот;
— определение социального статуса, показывающее количество скота, который жених должен заплатить в качестве приданого за невесту, которая владеет тарелкой.

🇪🇹WE ARE GOING TO THE TRIBES OF SOUTHERN ETHIOPIA. 2 PLACES LEFT!

Our expedition to Southern Ethiopia starts on November 8, where we will go to the right bank of the Omo River.

During the expedition, we will meet a large number of tribes. For example, we will get to know the Surma tribe and explore their culture of ritual scarring and wearing plates in the lips.

🤯 There are several theories about wearing plates in the lips:
— disfigurement to prevent enslavement by the Arabs in ancient times;
— protection from the penetration of evil spirits into the body through the mouth;
— determination of social status, showing the amount of cattle that the groom must pay as a dowry for the bride who owns a plate.
