Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?


Digital storage of information and knowledge is becoming common due to the internet. While there are certain drawbacks, they are outweighed by the benefits.

One downside of storing information online is the spread of misinformation. When information is stored in a particular website, it is easy to edit it while downloading or copying. Wikipedia can be a good case in point, where users can alter information without any restrictions. Because of this, it is considered an unreliable source of information. The reliance on technology is another disadvantage. Using and storing information becomes impossible unless(if not) there is stable internet connection, not to mention viruses and other malware. Readers do not usually face such problems with physical books.

Despite these disadvantages, the advantages are far greater. One major benefit of digital storage is the accessibility of information. This means that people can use information at their own convenience regardless of their geographical location. For example, students preparing for exams can make use of materials unavailable in their local libraries. The fact that online libraries offer unlimited copies of books can be a further advantage. Physical libraries are inferior(=weak) in this respect as they usually have limited number of materials. So, if a library runs out of a particular book, it can be impossible for other people to access it; however, with the internet, this is not the case.

In conclusion, although there are some disadvantages to keeping information and knowledge on the internet, they are not as significant as the advantages.

Korzinka, one of the well-known supermarket chains in Uzbekistan, recently faced criticism from the government and the public due to its careless attitude toward handling food. Unfortunately, despite such backlash, food waste remains a persistent problem. However, the public is not without fault either. Residential food waste is actually the most significant contributor to what is sent to landfills. This usually happens when people over-purchase or cook large portions that are not consumed, which often results from poor planning or lack of awareness.

However complex the problem might be, there are a number of ways by which it can be addressed. One effective measure would be to establish food redistribution programs. Such programs should collaborate with supermarkets and communities, particularly in areas where food insecurity is a widespread challenge, to ensure that perfectly edible yet aesthetically flawed food is not wasted. This action can have a two-fold impact by reducing the environmental impact of food waste while also alleviating food insecurity for many people.

Another approach, one that would complement the first, is to use food waste mobile apps. Such apps help users track what food items they have at home, preventing unnecessary purchases during shopping. These apps also send reminders about expiration dates or alerts when certain foods are close to spoiling, which can encourage people to use them before they become inedible. One such mobile application is ‘NoWaste’ which received overwhelmingly positive reviews among users.

In conclusion, the main reasons behind food waste are strict aesthetic standards for food and consumer behavior, such as over-purchasing and poor planning. However, this issue can be effectively tackled through measures like food redistribution programs and the use of innovative mobile apps.
