Why UPSC Mentorship is a bad idea?

1. When a teacher/faculty is a subject specific expert, how is it expected that a mentor will be able to deal with the queries and questions of all the subjects. He cannot be an expert in all the subjects.
You can give an argument that a mentor has appeared for interview and is a good candidate. However, even those selected candidates who leave their job to teach are experts in specific subjects only and don't teach all the subjects themselves. Mentorship, by a generalist candidate, about all the subjects is a fraudulent idea.
2. A mentor is alloted 150-200 students. Do you think that a mentor will innovate a problem-specific solution for you? I have seen mentors first-hand differing from their faculties and solving the doubts of the students in an entirely different manner leading to confusion because mentors are not updated.
3. Mentorship is the DUTY OF THE FACULTY TO GUIDE THE STUDENTS ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS. However, in the coaching industry, the celebrity teachers don't have time to speak to the students and listen out to them. IT IS THE JOB OF THE FACULTY TO GIVE THE BEST GUIDANCE TO THE STUDENT IN HIS/HER RESPECTIVE SUBJECT.
4. You are smart enough to make your own timetables and study schedule. A mentor in the UPSC Journey is nothing more than an accountability partner where the partnership is one from one end.


Also, from the human psychology perspective, -every Mentor wants to be a faculty someday. 95% of the mentors who join the coaching industry want visibility and money. Their only objective is to get visibility and someday, become a faculty.

Something seems off about this UPSC result.
So many candidates scored 95+ and 70+ in gs and csat respectively and still couldn't clear Prelims.

Something does seem off.

4 things I am unable to understand:

1. Why there was no seal on the question paper.
2. How come so many triplets selected from the same center and same class room.
3. Why so many aspirants score 95+ in GS and 75+ in CSAT are knocked out.
4. Why was there an inordinate delay in declaring the result?
