Train Captains and station staff from East Rail Line have joined an exercise during non-traffic hours at the recent public holiday, which re-created the scene of a total failure of the signalling system that required the temporary switch over between new and old systems 🌃

Communications between stations are required in order to confirm the clearance of tracks in the vicinity and to display different hand signals accordingly. These then enable Train Captains to drive their trains manually

When trains arrive at their nearest stations, services would be terminated and passengers would be advised to use alternative transport  🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Engineers have conducted various tests during non-traffic hours to ensure all the systems are working together smoothly as well as the compatibility of the new and the existing trains
