❝In the narration of ʿAbdullāh Ibn Masʿūd (رضى الله عنه), that noble companion, he warns against taking knowledge from someone that is unknown because you do not know the reality of this individual. ʿAbdullāh Ibn Masʿūd (رضى الله عنه) said,

.إنَّ الشَّيْطانَ لِيَتَمَثَّلُ في صُورَةِ الرَّجُلِ، فَيَأْتي القَوْمَ، فيُحَدِّثُهُمْ بالحَديثِ مِنَ الكَذِبِ، فَيَتَفَرَّقُونَ، فيَقولُ الرَّجُلُ منهمْ: سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا أعْرِفُ وجْهَهُ، ولا أدْرِي ما اسْمُهُ يُحَدِّثُ

“The devil takes the form of a man. He comes to a people and narrates to them a ḥadīth that is a fabrication and a lie. The people (who listened to him) leave. One of the men who was listening will say, ‘I heard a man narrating a ḥadīth, I know his face, but I don’t know his name, and he was narrating a ḥadīth.”

Look at the danger of that. The consequence is that you are narrating from shayṭān.

Especially in this day and age where there are individuals that sit with books behind them and they tell our children and our brothers and sisters to go and join ISIS or Al-Qaeda or other extreme groups and they sit in America and they do not go anywhere. They are misguiding the Ummah. That is why some of the Salaf said, ‘take knowledge from those who are known.’ Those that you know are from ahl al-ḏhikr.❞

❝As it relates to the Kāfir – he is ghayr al-ḥarbī – (someone who is not at war or hostile to the Muslims). Imām An-Nawawī (رحمه الله) mentions,

ويجوز للمسلم أن يعزي الذمي بقريبه الذمي

“It is permissible for the Muslim to offer condolences to the non-Muslim who is a relative and also for their non-Muslim relative”

This is clearly with the stipulation that a person says something that is permissible to say, for example, “Condolences for your loss,” or the likes of that. As for asking Allāh to forgive or have mercy upon the non-Muslim that passed away, then this is Muḥarram (forbidden) by Ijmā’ (consensus).❞

That book is very comprehensive and deals with matters of belief, jurisprudence, wūḍūʿ, ṣalāh, etiquettes, and other than that. In it there are important pieces of advice for Muslims who are living in the West.❞

❝Shaykh Ibn Bāz was asked, “I see that some people, after shaking hands, they kiss their hand, or place their hand upon their chest as an expression of greater affection. Is this permissible? Benefit us, may Allāh reward you.”

The Shaykh (رحمه الله) said, “This action of theirs does not have any basis according to what we know from the Sharīʿah (the Divine Laws) of Islām. It is not legislated to kiss the hand or to place it on the chest after shaking hands.”

This means that it is not from the religion to do this and that rather, some people just do it out of culture. The Shaykh goes on to mention a beneficial point and detailed answer,

“If the person believes that this act will bring them closer to Allāh, then in this case, it will be an innovation.”❞

❝Under the category of nouns, there are Ḍamā’ir (pronouns) such as (انا) “Ana” (I or Me) for singular, and (نحن) “Naḥnu” which can be used by one person to refer to themselves, indicating Taʿẓīm – Greatness, Respect and Glorification. It can be used, likewise, as a plural. In the Qur’ān, we find it in the verse:
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

“Indeed, We revealed the Reminder (Qur’ān) and indeed We will preserve it.” [Sūrah Al- Ḥijr: 15:09]
Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى) is using “Naḥnu Littaʿẓīm” for glorification and indicating His Greatness.❞
