Amit Segal: Were it not for these soldiers, whom the rabbi so vehemently despises, Hamas and Hezbollah would be slaughtering everyone at the Slabodka Yeshiva, which he leads.
This yeshiva has already been targeted in the past, in the Hebron massacre of 1929. The leaders of the Hebron Jewish community refused to allow the Haganah (Jewish pre-Israel paramilitary organization) to operate there and provide protection.
