To all the deserving students from Freshman and outside who did not get in today,
As someone who got 20+ rejections back in the day, I know how much it sucks.
I hope you will find the power to leverage your regret, frustration, and dismay to bounce back from those rejections.
Reach out to your family, friends, and mentors, and take a well-deserved break to re-assess your plans.
Regardless, you have learned a valuable lesson today. Even when you do everything right, there are factors outside your control.
Now, it is crucial to return to the drawing board and evaluate how you can bounce back from this situation.
When I see deserving students get rejected, I know they will soon discover that the world holds much more to explore and achieve.
I hope you are proud of yourself for giving it a shot and chasing your dreams against all odds.
Retrospectively, you would revisit this situation and realize:
Today's setback was just a bump in your long journey.

ππ»ββοΈ The story of student who enjoyed working out
π¨π»βπ Ronan Byrne, an electrical engineering student in Dublin, Ireland, enjoyed watching the Netflix, but he also knew that he should exercise more often than he did. Putting his engineering skills to use, Byrne hacked his stationary bike and connected it to his laptop and television.
π¨π»βπ» Then, he created a computer program that would allow Netflix to run only if he was cycling at a certain speed. If he slowed down for too long, whatever show he was watching would pause until he started pedaling again.
π§ In Byrne's case, he bundled watching Netflix (the thing he wanted to do) with riding his stationary bike (the thing he needed to do).
For deeper understanding: read atomic habits chapter 2, page 108.

πͺ¨ TELLING THE STORY OF STOICISM
A few years ago, when my daughter Poppy was four, she began asking me
to tell her stories. I didnβt know any childrenβs stories, so I told her what
came to mind: Greek myths, stories about heroes and philosophers.
One of her favorites was about the Greek general Xenophon. Late one night, as a young man, he was walking through an alleyway between two buildings
near the Athenian marketplace.
Suddenly a mysterious stranger, hidden in the shadows, blocked his path with a wooden staff. A voice inquired from the darkness, βDo you know where someone should go if he wants to buy goods?β Xenophon replied that they were right beside the agora, the finest marketplace in the world. There you could buy any goods your heart desired: jewelry, food, clothing, and so on. The stranger paused for a moment before asking another question: βWhere, then, should one go in order to learn how to become a good person?β Xenophon was dumbstruck.
He had no idea how to answer. The mysterious figure then lowered his staff, stepped out of the shadows, and introduced himself as Socrates. Socrates said that they should both try to discover how someone could become a good person, because thatβs surely more important than knowing where to buy all sorts of goods. So Xenophon went with Socrates and became one of his closest friends and followers.
