Which one would you prefer pain of regret or pain of discipline?
I know, it may sound like a banal theme, but it is something worth-talking here.
These days, every high-school student or mature has his/her goal, destiny. However, some people live their lifes in a moment. They are people of today. They focus on today, that's it. Going school, coming back, playing outside, sleeping 10 hours and cycle being repeated. In short, things you own end up owning you. You end up constructing someone else's dreams.
On the other hand, others set their goals and dreams from their junior ages. Focus on tomorrow. Plan their future. Try to become better from today's performance. One and only hardship you could face is that suffering/trying hard, and it is not as constant, forever as pain of regretting.

To all the deserving students from Freshman and outside who did not get in today,
As someone who got 20+ rejections back in the day, I know how much it sucks.
I hope you will find the power to leverage your regret, frustration, and dismay to bounce back from those rejections.
Reach out to your family, friends, and mentors, and take a well-deserved break to re-assess your plans.
Regardless, you have learned a valuable lesson today. Even when you do everything right, there are factors outside your control.
Now, it is crucial to return to the drawing board and evaluate how you can bounce back from this situation.
When I see deserving students get rejected, I know they will soon discover that the world holds much more to explore and achieve.
I hope you are proud of yourself for giving it a shot and chasing your dreams against all odds.
Retrospectively, you would revisit this situation and realize:
Today's setback was just a bump in your long journey.
