Money quote: "An important thing to note is that a radar lock is not always required to launch weapons at a target. For guns kills, if the aircraft has a radar lock on a target, it can accurately gauge range to the target, and provide the pilot with the appropriate corrections for lead and gravity drop, to get an accurate guns kill. Without the radar, the pilot simply has to rely on his or her own judgement."

The primary technology that a military aircraft uses to lock and track an enemy aircraft is its onboard radar. Aircraft radars typically have two modes: search and track. In search mode, the radar sweeps a radio beam across the sky in a zig-zag pattern. When…

But anyone trying to sleep-hack their way to greatness should be warned: The rare ability to succeed on so little sleep is a genetic trait, not a feat of will or skill.
Money quote: "I’ve said multiple times that Amazon has the foundation for a great remote-first company. The document-based process provides employees in multiple timezones the same context as someone in Seattle. The discussions in meetings enable faster feedback loops, but the downside is they can limit the potential for asynchronous engagements if notes and questions aren’t captured in the document.
I’ve never had the benefit of attending an Amazon meeting in person. From what I’ve heard document-centered meetings have been extremely successful in transitioning to remote requirements. But the content isn’t the only thing that matters."

Money quote: "When I worked in a Big American Bank, they were very worried about employees being phished by baddies on the internet. In order to build up sufficient apprehension around incoming emails the bank decided to repeatedly phish its own employees: deliberately sending false emails that would trick you into taking action. Clicking on a link or opening the attachment automatically enrolled you in a particularly miserable piece of mandatory training on information security, as a punishment. The bank's phishing emails were pretty convincing and I had to repeat the training course a few times before gaining a deep distrust of email hyperlinks.
I think they were on the right lines. The best defence against frauds and scams seems to be a kind of "intellectual vaccination" via repeated exposure to benign, non-functional specimens."

Money quote: "Every time you use Google to look up the answer to a question that your grandmother would have simply resigned herself to never knowing, you “data-age” at an exponential pace. We used to have to wait for answers to arrive in due course. Now we simply accelerate time and pull them from the future forward into the present.
Every time you use an auto-complete writing tool like TextSpark.ai you are drawing on a vast pool of reading and writing experience equivalent to hundreds if not thousands of years of human life experience. Such tools could allow you to write like no human has ever written before.
Every time you use a digital notetaking or knowledge management tool (which I call a Second Brain), you are pushing and pulling bits of information through Artificial Time. Instead of drawing from only the immediately available lessons of the recent past, you are harnessing the intellectual output of years. You are not only smarter, but experientially wiser."
